Dana Depta is the resident permanent makeup specialist at Tiger & Rose Tattoo, with experience spanning permanent makeup, traditional tattooing and tattoo removal.

Her approach is centred around creating results that complement the individual rather than following a template. Every treatment is carefully considered around your facial features, skin, colouring and personal style, with particular attention paid to how pigment will heal and age over time.

Her experience with correction and removal also means she regularly sees how permanent makeup behaves years after it was originally applied- knowledge she uses when planning new treatments.

The Appointment Process

Consultation

Your consultation is all about you and the result you want. We’ll assess your skin and chat about lifestyle and preferences. We’ll also decide what technique is best, and answer any questions you may have. It’s also an opportunity to discuss any questions and make sure you feel completely confident before going ahead.

Day Of Treatment

We’ll begin by reviewing everything discussed during your consultation before mapping and prepping the treatment area. You’ll have the opportunity to check the shape, placement and colour and request any adjustments before we begin. Once you’re completely happy with the design, we will begin. Before you leave, we’ll explain the healing process and provide full aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to expect.

Touch Up

Once your permanent makeup has fully healed-approximately 6-12 weeks later, a touch-up appointment allows us to see how your skin has retained the pigment. Everyone heals differently, so some areas may soften or fade more than others. During your touch-up, we can adjust the shape, reinforce areas that need more colour and make adjustments to achieve a balanced, even result. This is also when we can build a little more definition if you decide you’d like a stronger finish.

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing used to enhance features such as the eyebrows, eyes and lips. Pigment is carefully implanted into the skin to create results designed to complement your natural features and gradually soften and fade over time.

What permanent makeup treatments do you offer?

We offer a range of permanent makeup treatments including powder and ombré brows, microblading and combination brows, permanent eyeliner and lip blush. Your treatment can be tailored to your features, colouring and desired result.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Permanent makeup typically lasts 1–3 years or longer, depending on the treatment, skin type, lifestyle, pigment choice and other individual factors. The colour gradually fades and softens, and maintenance appointments can be used to refresh your results. However, this does not mean it is “semi permanent” as results can last much longer and in some cases, forever.

Does permanent makeup look natural?

It absolutely can. Permanent makeup doesn’t have to look heavy or obvious. Shape, colour and technique are customised to your face, with the aim of enhancing your existing features rather than completely changing them.

Does permanent makeup hurt?

Most clients find permanent makeup very manageable. Sensitivity varies from person to person and also depends on the treatment area. Appropriate topical numbing products can be used where suitable to help keep you comfortable throughout your appointment.

How do I know which permanent makeup treatment is right for me?

You don’t need to know before you book. We can discuss your natural features, skin, lifestyle and the result you’d like to achieve before recommending the most suitable technique. For brows, for example, this may be microblading, powder brows or a combination of the two.

How long does permanent makeup take to heal?

Initial healing usually takes around 7–14 days, although the skin continues to heal afterwards. It will take approximately 4 weeks to fully heal. It’s normal for permanent makeup to appear darker immediately after treatment before becoming softer as it heals. Your final result shouldn’t be judged until the area has fully settled.

Will I need a touch-up appointment?

All new permanent makeup treatments are completed over two appointments. The second appointment allows us to assess how your skin has retained the pigment and perfect areas where necessary. Long-term colour boosts may then be recommended as your permanent makeup gradually fades.

Can I have permanent makeup if I’ve had it done previously?

Usually, but existing permanent makeup needs to be assessed first. If the previous pigment is too dark, saturated, uneven or an unsuitable colour or shape, removal or correction may be recommended before adding more pigment. We offer both PMU correction and removal options.
